I forgot to fully describe the Hirst installation, the crucial part about there being blank primed white canvases around the room, onto which pupae had been glued. Initially, the butterflies hatched out of these 'paintings' and as they did the pupae released fluids which look like some minimalist drip painting!

The butterfly room closes in a week's time, much earlier than the rest of the show. So if anyone wants to see it, go now!

PascalexPascale Petithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03496315815638953200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7406925524977670641.post-44388690898256272992012-06-12T14:31:03.439+01:002012-06-12T14:31:03.439+01:00Patience, thanks for the comments and for remindin...Patience, thanks for the comments and for reminding me about that stunning 'moth' poem by Billy Collins, wonderful juxtaposition of moth and bell! weight and weightlessness! I may bring this poem in to the group next week or email it to them. It's an off-guard way to approach the subject. I know what you mean by running to stand still!

PascalexPascale Petithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03496315815638953200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7406925524977670641.post-89942287584605148452012-06-12T14:11:52.660+01:002012-06-12T14:11:52.660+01:00I wish I was on your course - it would open so man...I wish I was on your course - it would open so many doors in my head - but I'm running to stand still. So I'll follow your blog instead. Talking of butterly/moth poems, do you know Billy Collin's poem 'Japan'? One of my all-time favourites. http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/japan/ (they should all be three-line stanzas). The idea of the owl butterfly escaping into another exhibit... the language of butterflies... tasting with their feet... So much to think about!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
